Abstract

This paper presents a reconfigurable holographic antenna, which is loaded on the radial waveguide. This holographic antenna consists of 784 dipole elements on top of the waveguide, and is excited by an over-sized rectangle radial waveguide. Dipoles are used as antenna element, due to its pattern is more stable than slot structure. Furthermore, the PIN diodes can be mounted on the feedline of dipoles to control the on/off states of the dipoles in light of the holographic interference pattern. As shown by the simulation result, the antenna is capable of scanning from -60° to 60° in the elevation direction over the band 27.5 to 29.5 GHz; the maximum gain is 16~22.6dBi when beam scan from ±60° to 0°. This simulated result indicate that the proposed antenna has the fantastic performance in antenna beamforming of the 5G system.
