Abstract

Many non-renewable historical relics have been created in the course of history. Usually, these historical relics represent the profound cultural deposit of a nation or a country and are directly related to the heritage and development of historical cultures. As time passes, these historical relics have been damaged to different extents. In the new media era, traditional communication concepts may have gradually become an impediment to the exhibition and protection of historical relics. Along with the advances in science and technology and the development of information technology, replacing the exhibition of traditional relics with digital exhibition has become an important means of protecting historical relics and delivering information to the public. Currently, digital media exhibition technology has been widely used. The application of digital media exhibition technology in exhibition and protection of historical relics are an important breakthrough that can greatly improve their protection. Digital media art has made traditional static exhibition and unitary information transfer a dynamic exhibition and interactive experience, which makes the content and effect of exhibition design richer. This is conducive to the repair and restoration of relics for which technological support is provided. This paper focuses on the virtual storage of historical relics and the exhibition and communication of cultures based on digital media art creation and through digital means. In terms of the content, the paper mainly examines the projection mode of historical relics, analyzed visual communication characteristics based on digital media art creation, and explored the cross-media integration design mode. The advantages of the art project exhibition of historical relics in the protection of relics are summarized by analyzing the most classical application cases. These advantages can provide a solid theoretical basis for the digital exhibition, communication, and protection of historical relics.
