Abstract

Recent years, individual travel has been more popular. A backpacker can uses a smart phone to get wanted potential Point of Interests (POI) and Location-based Services (LBS). Many applications have been developed for backpackers. However, most of these applications provide incomplete services for backpackers who want to visit potential POIs. Backpackers need to spend a lot of time searching POIs. Hence, this study designs and proposes a Situation-aware Adaptive POI-touring-based Digital-convergence service platform, which is called SAIL. SAIL is a composed of Real time Interactive Mobile Users (RIMUs), Intelligent-agent-based Interactive Digital Televisions (i2DTV) and Intelligent Cloud-based Digital Convergence server (ICDC). RIMUs use smart phones to get LBS and suggested POIs by the ICDC server. ICDC server automatically pushes and delivers serialized contents depending on ontology, Bayesian Network and Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm by users' preferences and Global Positioning System (GPS) values. Backpackers can easily get valuable information via a smart phone or an i2DTV when they are in touring.
