Abstract

A new digital controlled, bridgeless ac/dc buck converter that operates in discontinuous-input-voltage mode (DIVM) is presented. It has inherent power factor correction property and draws continuous input current during conduction period with a constant duty cycle. In addition, the efficiency of the proposed buck PFC rectifier is improved by adopting a bridgeless configuration. The converter also works as a voltage doubler which reduces the size of the output capacitors. Detailed operating analysis, design criteria, and modeling of the buck converter are reported. Experimental results for verifying the theoretical analysis are also presented.
