Abstract

The existence of diffusion motion in weakly coupled complex (dusty) plasmas (WCCDPs) has been estimated through equilibrium molecular dynamics (EMD) simulations. The EMD simulations were performed for two-dimensional (2D) Yukawa systems in a canonical ensemble. The long-time behaviors were computed by employing the two tests of mean-squared displacement and velocity autocorrelation function, and these tests indicate overall diffusive motion for the entire range of weakly nonideal plasma states. The diffusion obtained from the Green–Kubo EMD for the WCCDPs is found to be in the same trends as that obtained from the previously known simulation results for the strongly coupled complex (dusty) plasmas. The present EMD estimations predict that diffusive motion exists in 2D WCCDPs and it is weakly dependent on both the plasma coupling and screening strength parameters.
