Abstract

Biodegradable polymeric compositions are widely used both in materials science and in biomedicine. The development of composite materials for targeted and sustained delivery of low-molecular-weight components, such as drugs, anticorrosion agents, etc., is of special interest. Fundamental equations reflecting weight loss and changes in geometric dimensions of compositions are presented. Analysis of the kinetics of release of the drug as a combination of diffusion and reaction of the hydrolytic decomposition of the ester bonds is carried out using the example of poly (3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) and its composites with chitosan.
