Abstract

We generalize our previous work on diffusion of ions in isothermal plasmas to handle non-isothermal systems. This approach, combined with the method of effective potentials for computing diffusion coefficients, allows us to formulate the diffusion problem in Coulomb systems of arbitrary coupling. The results are applied to study heat-blanketing envelopes of neutron stars in diffusive equilibrium.
