Abstract

Excitation energy transfer between rhodamine 6G (energy donor) and malachite green (acceptor) has been studied by means of a picosecond time-resolved, single-photon counting technique. Donor fluorescence decays were satisfactorily analyzed in terms of the theoretical decay function including translational diffusion proposed by Gösele et al. A simple Förster equation without considering the diffusion is found to overestimate the critical transfer distance.
