Abstract

A numerical procedure was used to calculate the diffuse radiation configuration view factor between two spheres for a separation greater than or equal to zero and various radius ratios. Results are presented for the view factor as a function of the spacing ratio (1 ≤ c/R ≤ 7) for various radius ratios, (0 ≤ r/R ≤ 5). All values of the view factor, F 12 lie within a narrow region bound by the curves for zero separation and spherical point sources (r/R = 0). Curves are presented that show the percentage difference between the numerically obtained view factor and the one obtained by replacing the finite sphere with a spherical point source.
