Abstract

This paper for the first time explores the diffraction of two spatially separated parallel light beams by reflection from a SAW, propagating in isotropic semi-space. In the analysis the attenuation and dispersion of SAW, the interference of light beams and scattering by different sites of acoustic wave are considered. The analytical expressions predict low-frequency oscillation of the resulting diffracted fields as observed in previous experiments. Using measurements of period oscillation of diffracted intensity vs. SAW frequency, the SAW dispersion curve and phase and group velocities were determined.
