Abstract

Using a method put forward by Bateman a long time ago the diffraction of a time-dependent electromagnetic pulse by a perfectly conducting plane screen with two applications to gaussian beams and nonhomogeneous plane waves is discussed. Investigated is how this method could be generalized to a nonabsorbing thin screen with a good but not perfect conductivity.
