Abstract

A study of transfer reactions with heavy ions has been undertaken to provide information concerning diffraction effects. The proton pick-up reactions 27Al( 12C, 13N) 26Mg and 12C( 12C, 13N) 11B have been investigated. Energy and angular distributions of the 13N reaction products have been measured at different energies to the 12C ions. The angular distributions exhibit diffraction oscillations which damp out with decreasing bombarding energy. The experimental data are compared with predictions of the Frahn and Venter diffraction model and with the theoretical results of Gareyev, Grabowski and Kalinkin.
