Abstract

The problem of diffraction by a wide slit in a uniaxially anisotropic plasma is solved by means of a multiple-scattering technique. The principal result is the consideration of the effect of the dipole term, which is the principal contribution to the interaction in certain ranges. Numerical data obtained from the analytical results are used to discuss the effects of the various kinds of interaction, anisotropy, and slit widths on the diffraction pattern of the slit at normal incidence.
