Abstract

The ultrastructure of the tegument and subtegumental layers was studied in three parts of the sporocyst of L. paradoxum: in its central body, in the tube and in the broodsac. Some differences were revealed in the thickness of surface coat, in the number and shape of the microvilli, in the thickness of the muscle layer, and in the number of cytoplasmic inclusions in the syncytial layer of the tegument. For the first time some structures, interpreted as elements of the nervous system, are described, as well as paracrystalline spine-like structures. The probable relations between the differences in ultrastructure and the function of individual parts of the sporocyst are discussed.
