Abstract

ABSTRACTIn this letter, a differential‐fed ultrawideband (UWB) antenna with dual band‐notched characteristics is proposed. The proposed antenna mainly consists of two UWB rectangular ring monopole antennas which are placed face‐to‐face and a square ground plane with a modified square slot. To avoid the electromagnetic interference within the UWB band, a C‐shaped stub connected with the ring monopole is adopted to reject 3.5‐GHz WiMAX while an inverted‐Ω shaped slot embedded in the monopole antenna is used to filter 5.5‐GHz WLAN. A prototype of the antenna with the optimized parameters is fabricated and tested. Measured results show that the 10‐dB impedance bandwidth is from 2.53 to more than 11 GHz, along with dual notched bands of 3.27–4.13 and 4.95–6.28 GHz. In addition, the antenna has good radiation patterns and stable gain in the whole operating band. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 58:351–355, 2016
