Abstract

This work presents differential mode of operation as third mode for Coriolis vibratory gyroscope. Differential mode of operation defers from other two modes - rate and rate integrating ones - in that it has two, X and Y measurement channels, each measures angle rate with opposite signs +Ω and −Ω. Promising possibilities of this mode of operation are discussed. Multimode form of standing wave control system block diagram making it possible to automatically switch from rate to rate integrating and to differential modes of operation is presented. Dependences of the X and Y channel biases and scale factors, SFx and SFy, versus standing wave angle θ are graphically presented. Standing wave specific angle values to equalize the two channel biases and scale factors, θ0 and θ*, respectively, are found. Experimental results on differential mode of operation key parameters temperature dependence are also presented.
