Abstract

The women and children of a country are its valuable assets. A nation's efforts towards enhancing women and children's health, nutrition and education and also its commitment to resolve problems to implementation of related policies is relevant in measuring its development. In this direction Gov of India launched integrated child development service scheme. An Anganwari centre through AWWs ICDS program provides all services beneficiary group. AWWs thus, play an important role in spreading knowledge to ICDS beneficiary group. The present study is an attempt to assess the effectiveness of program by assessing the difference in the knowledge of ICDS beneficiaries obtaining by AWWs . The study was conducted on one hundred fifty women of Agra District. The sample was selected by multi stage random sampling technique. Low frequency of imparting knowledge regarding reproductive health was seen in rural areas whereas frequency of imparting knowledge regarding reproductive health was significantly higher in slums (χ2=8.373).
