Abstract

We investigate the effects of spin-polarization on the differential elastic scattering cross-section (DESCS) of electrons impinging on uranium atoms using the relativistic partial wave expansion method. The calculations presented here were obtained using the POLARe code. Changes in the shape of the DESCS of keV electron beams due to the transverse spin-polarization of the beam are demonstrated to be particularly intense for specific angles and relatively low energies of the incident beam. They can be used to establish the polarization degree of a given electron beam by comparing the POLARe theoretical calculations with experimental data.
