Abstract

This text presents rather succinctly a broad coverage of more common otolaryngology problems in children. It departs from the usual textbook format by presenting the various topics as problems and symptoms and develops the differential diagnoses and rational and contemporary approaches to therapy from this tangible base. Fundamentals are stressed, and although new advances in diagnosis and therapy are presented, the authors have, for the most part, avoided controversial and highly speculative concepts and techniques. To this end, the text is a particularly valuable and reliable guide for the general practitioners of otolaryngology and pediatrics and also for medical students and residents in their formative years of training. This text fulfills a distinct need in both the pediatric and otolaryngologic literature for greater attention to the special details of diagnosis and treatment of otolaryngologic problems in children.
