Abstract
A viologen based coordination polymer [Zn(Pbpy)0.5(p-MBDC)·H2O]·2H2O (1) (Pbpy = 1,1′-[1,4-phenylenebis-(methylene)]bis(4,4′-bipyridinium), p-MBDC2- = 5-Methylisophthalic) has been synthesized, which exhibits photochromic and thermochromic properties. Portable test strips can measure the intensity of ultraviolet and visible light. Meanwhile, it is the first time that photochromic viologen-based coordination polymer and electrostatic spinning technology are combined to apply to smart textiles, which broadens the way for the application of textiles and viologen compounds.
