Abstract

Mesoporous structures of zinc oxide (ZnO) powders were prepared by the homogenous precipitation method. ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized from a solution of zinc acetate dihydrate (Zn(CH3COO)2.2H2O) as zinc source and ammonium carbonate ((NH4)2CO3) as precipitant agent. Structural and morphological characteristics were studied with respect to changes in molarity (0.05, 0.5, and 0.35 M), percentage of saturation, synthesis temperature (30, and 70°C), and time (30, 60, and 120 min). ZnO phases were confirmed from X-ray Diffraction (XRD) results. The particles morphology (size and shape) was analyzed from the Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) characterization.
