Abstract

Community: a group of people sharing not only a common interest in an issue or set of issues, but also some expectation of common perspective. Physical communities share not only interests (in the area they occupy), but also some predictably common perspective (the good of the land); research communities, similarly, are not so much aligned by issues (human-computer interaction) as by perspectives (it's a good thing). So, the pro-life and pro-choice camps of the Republican party clearly share an interest in abortion issues, but could hardly be described as "the Republican abortion community".
