Abstract

This article discusses basic components of wellness in the workplace based on observations from selective literature and live case studies of a few people in employment in the present-day context. It discusses the dynamics and suggests possible interventions. This article presents some fundamental frameworks to understand wellness at work. Based on a brief review of related literature, the authors present many work correlates of varying work experiences and occupational conditions that lead to psychological problems.A few case studies of people with decreased wellness/mental health are presented from a clinical psychology perspective under different occupational/work and life contexts. The authors discuss the individual strength dimension while coping with unwellness. They propose to corporate HR that mental wellness is as important a dimension as physical wellness and needs to be given attention to in this gig economy. Companies should consciously undertake initiatives. A framework to understand and improve mental health among employees is suggested.
