Abstract

Objective To compare the efficacy between ranibizumab and triamcinolon acetonide (TA) combined with grid laser photocoagulation (GLP) on macular region for the treatment for branch retinal vein occlusion secondary macular edema(BRVO-ME). Methods The data of 40 eyes of 40 cases with BRVO-ME were analyzed retrospectively.Group A, 20 eyes of 20 cases, received intravitreal injection of ranibizumab. Group B, 20 eyes of 20 cases, received intravitreal injection of TA (2 mg, 0.05 mL). All cases received GLP on macular region was performed at 1 week after injection. Results The BCVA of the two groups after treatment was significantly better than that before treatment (P 0.05). The IOP of group B at 1 month after treatment was significantly higher than that of group A (P 0.05). Conclusion GLP combined with intravitreal injection of TA or ranibizumab are effective for BRVO-ME. The two methods can improve BCVA and reduce CMT with a stable effect. The ranibizumab group is safer relatively with stable IOP. Key words: Occlusion, vein, branch retinal; Edema, macular; Ranibizumab; Triamcinolone acetonide(TA); Photocoagulation, laser, grid, macular
