Abstract

Introduction: Long term survial in pancreatic cancer depends on radical surgery. Tumor infiltration of the mesentericoportal venous system is not in itself a contraindication for resection provided venous reconstruction is possible. Complication-rates and oncological outcomes after pancreatic surgery with venous resection are in high-volume centers comparable to standard resections. In some cases standard mesentericoportal vein resection is not possible and alternatives have to be considered.
