Abstract New observations show there is little correlation between the position of a galaxy on the dynamical R- sequence and the stellar content of its central regions. This suggests that different amounts of evolution from similar initial conditions are insufficient to account for the variety of dynamical and stellar properties among Sb and Sc galaxies.
