Abstract

A conceptualization of the relationships between alternative payment systems and various environmental and behavioral variables, which may serve as a preliminary theoretical framework for analyses of payment systems, is outlined. Findings designed to test a portion of this conceptualization are presented, and directions for future research extensions are cited.
