Abstract

• Muscle activation strategy to achieve maximal BH and BNH forces is altered from corresponding unilateral tasks. • Upper extremity compound muscle activations contribute to BLD presence in bilateral homologous and non-homologous tasks. • Increased unilateral upper extremity force is due to synergist muscle leverage not available in bilateral force production.
