Abstract

Rationale: Even though an impaired degradation of oral supplied histamine due to diamine oxidase (DAO) deficiency is assumed as leading cause for histamine intolerance (HIT), other factors including a deranged gut flora may contribute to an elevated histamine exposure. For this we aimed to determine the intestinal bacterial composition in patients (pts) with proven HIT in comparison to healthy persons and pts with other food intolerances.
