Abstract

Objective To understand the drug resistances of Enterobacteriaceae strains isolated from pa-tients in intensive care unit (ICU) and common wards, so as to provide reference for rational use of antibiotics. Methods The main Enterobacteriaceae strains isolated from patients in ICU and common wards of Shaoxing Peo-ple’s Hospital from January to December 2016 were analyzed statistically, and the detection rates and drug resis-tances between the two departments were compared. Results A total of 2 174 Enterobacteriaceae strains were iso-lated, including 640 strains from ICU and 1 534 strains from common wards. The top six kinds of strains isolated from ICU were Klebsiella pneumoniae (35.0%) , Escherichia coli (20.9%) , Serratia marcescens (10.0%) , Enterobac-ter pneumoniae (6.1%) , Proteus mirabilis (4.9%) and Enterobacter cloacae bacteria (3.1%) . While the top six kinds of strains isolated from common ward were Escherichia coli (47.7%) , Klebsiella pneumoniae (33.4%) , Enterobacter cloacae (4.7%) , Serratia marcescens (3.7%) , Proteus mirabilis (2.3%) and Enterobacter pneumoniae (1.6%) . The dif-ferences of detection rates of 4 pathogenic bacteria including Escherichia coli, Serratia marcescens, Enterobacteria-ceae and Proteus mirabilis between ICU and common wards were statistically significant (χ2=134.537, 34.910, 31.496 and 9.426, P all<0.05) . The resistance rates of Escherichia coli to nitrofurantoin, piperacillin/tazobactam and sulfamethoxazole were statistically different between the two departments (χ2=3.929, 6.744 and 7.315, P all <0.05) . The resistance rates of Klebsiella pneumoniae to 11 kinds of antibiotics were statistically different between the two depart-ments (P all<0.05) . Conclusions The main Enterobacteriaceae isolated from patients in ICU is Klebsiella pneumoniae, which is dif-ferent from that of Escherichia coli in the general ward. The resistance rate of the isolates in ICU is higher. Drug resistance of carbap-enems should be paid attention. Key words: Enterobacteriaceae; Intensive care unit; Common ward; Drug resistance
