Abstract

6 polyphenol compounds in cured leaves of 5 flue-cured tobacco cultivars from central Henan tobacco growing area in 2005 and 2006 were quantitatively determined with reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography. The results showed that: 1) the contents of polypenols in different flue-cured tobacco cultivars varied at different degrees,it was similar in both 2005 and 2006;the polypenols' contents in Zhongyan100 were higher than those in Yunyan85 and Yunyan87;2) chlorogenic acid and its isomer and rutin accounted for more than 90% of total polyphenols in flue-cured tobacco, the contents of kaempferol-3-rutinoside and scopoletin were very low;the proportions of total chlorogenic acid and chlorogenic acid in total polyphenols in Zhongyan100 were higher than those in NC89,Yunyan85 and Yunyan87;while the proportions of rutin in total polyphenols in Yunyan85 and Yunyan87 were obviously higher than those in other cultivars;3) there were some relationships between the differences of polyphenol contents in leaves from different stalk positions and tobacco cultivars.
