Abstract

Respecting different characteristics of students is one of the most important tasks to which contemporary school strives, so that differentiating of teaching and educational standards obtain a great importance. Educational standards, defined at three levels, may help teachers when preparing differentiated initial teaching of mathematics. The paper presents the examples of tasks used during the research. The impact of differentiated teaching, organized in accordance with educational standards, on students’ achievements in the initial teaching of mathematics in the domain of fractions is examined. The research sample consisted of 228 fourth grade elementary school students. The results of the research have shown that differenti- ated teaching, organized in accordance with educational standards, has positive impact on the achievement of students in the domain of fractions.
