Abstract

LEXICAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN POLISH AND SPANISH, THE FALSE FRIENDS
From the point of view of translation, false friends were more frequently studied between languages belonging to the same linguistic family or between languages where mutual translation is much more common than between Polish and Spanish. With this in mind we want to underline that the false friends issue affects all pairs of languages involved in translations. We consider it useful to let translators (and specifically future translators) know that is possible to find partial or total false friends when translating Polish into Spanish. We also want to provide a typology and a preliminary list that could be completed by translators.
