Abstract
Research methods used in the articles, which have been published in the Revista Espanola de Documentacion Cientifica (REDC) from 1989 to 1999 are analyzed. This analysis discusses the following points: research topics, methodology, population and sampling, design (grade of experimentation, time, and objectives), research strategies, techniques of obtaining data and analysis of data. The most important conclusion is: Library and Information Science is situated on earlier state or pre-scientific. However it is important to point that many of articles studied came from other disciplines although they use the bibliometric analysis as research echnique.

Resumen: Se analizan los métodos de investigación empleados en los artículos que se han publicado en la Revista Española de Documentación Científica (REDC) desde el año 1989 hasta 1999. Este análisis se centra en los siguientes puntos: temática de las investigaciones, metodología, población y muestreo, diseño (grado de experimentación, tiempo y objetivos), estrategias de investigación y finalmente técnicas de obtención e interpretación de los datos. Como conclusión más importante podemos decir que el perfil de las investigaciones estudiadas se corresponde a un estado inicial o precientífico de la Biblioteconomía y la Documentación como ciencia. También es importante señalar que muchos de los artículos estudiados, aunque utilicen como técnica de investigación el análisis bibliométrico, proceden de otras áreas de conocimiento.
