Abstract

<i>Diets for Sick Children</i>, the title of this book, is very descriptive of its content. The author notes, "It is intended to give practical assistance to pediatricians, general practitioners, health visitors, dietitians, nurses, and others who may be required to advise on or provide these diets." She has accomplished her purpose with a very helpful and nutritionally accurate book. Reading this book, one feels the tender loving care that the author has for the children she works with as group chief dietitian at the Hospitals for Sick Children, London. I found the text most interesting. One might say it was a "sentimental journey," bringing to mind the therapeutic diets (and children) with whom I have worked during my 17 years as a pediatric dietitian. In addition, I found many new ideas to make the diets more effective and more palatable. The book begins with a discussion of normal nutrition. Infant
