Abstract

OBJECTIVE: TCDD (2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin or dioxin) is a ubiquitous environmental contaminant and known endocrine disruptor. Humans and animals are most sensitive to such toxicants during development; thus, we developed a mouse pregnancy exposure model in order to examine the impact of developmental TCDD exposure on the uterus of adult offspring. We previously demonstrated that in utero exposure of mice to TCDD led to a profound loss of uterine progesterone receptor (PR) expression as well as reduced fertility for several generations.
