Abstract

Abstract In 1991 we examined the diet of Eagle Lake rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss aquilarum from Lake DeSmet, Wyoming, to determine the extent of piscivory. These fish did not exhibit extensive piscivory, even though forage fish were widely available, Our observations provide evidence that this strain does not have a genetic predisposition to prey on fish. Diet composition of Eagle Lake rainbow trout in Lake DeSmet was similar to other strains of rainbow trout in lakes.
