Abstract

Many cases of dementia can be delayed or prevented with lifestyle interventions. One important strategy is optimizing nutrition. Nutrition plays a role by providing essential micro- and macronutrients, but also by optimizing gut health via the gut microbiome. There is no one optimal diet for brain health; the key is eating a large variety of plant-based foods and ensuring that the diet contains all necessary micronutrients. There is a need for further research in this area to look beyond the European context. [ Psychiatr Ann . 2022;52(2):67–71.]
