Abstract

This review—which is based on the authors’ original studies—is devoted to application of aqueous solutions of Mo–V–P heteropoly acids (HPA-x, where x is the number of vanadium atoms) as bifunctional (acidic and oxidative) catalysts. The focus is on the development of one-pot processes in which the acid-catalyzed reaction of diene synthesis is combined with the oxidation of the produced adducts. Prospects for the design of a number of industrial processes for the production of substituted 1,4-naphtho- and 9,10-anthraquinones in the presence of solutions of modified non-Keggin HPA-x are shown.
