Abstract

2-Carbomethoxy-4,4-dimethylcyclopentenone ▪ was found to undergo cycloaddition to oxydiene ▪ to give a 45:55 mixture of the exo and endo adducts ▪ and ▪ under thermal conditions and a 95:5 mixture of the respective adducts under Lewis acid-catalyzed conditions.
