Abstract

Dielectric studies are very crucial in the design of electrical and electronic devices and their variations with frequency and temperature reveal the chemical and physical state of the material. Dielectric studies will also help to unveil the relaxation mechanism in semiconductors. Nanocrystalline materials generally exhibit enhanced dielectric properties. These properties heavily depend on the size, shape, composition and preparation conditions. This paper reports the dielectric studies of CuO-ZnO nanocomposites which is a technologically important material. Significant increase in dielectric constant is observed in the nanocomposite with the decrease in frequency than that in conventional materials due to different polarization mechanisms. Further, the ac conductivity shows enhancement with both temperature and frequency.
