Abstract

We report temperature changes of dielectric susceptibility and related domain structures in 0.75BiFeO3–0.25BaTiO3 in the temperature window between 298 and 800 K. It was found that the dielectric susceptibility exhibits a broad peak at around 773 K. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observation revealed that complex ferroelectric domain structures of 20–30 nm widths are formed in the ferroelectric phase of 0.75BiFeO3–0.25BaTiO3. A rhombohedral-to-pseudocubic transition was observed at around 773 K, at which the superlattice reflection spots at 1/2 1/2 1/2-type reciprocal positions changed into diffuse spots with very low intensities. Temperature changes of ferroelectric domain structures were also revealed by in situ TEM experiment.
