Abstract

In order to investigate the dielectric properties of the system Nb 2O 5(0.95):0.05TiO 2, single crystal fibers were grown using the laser heated pedestal growth (LHPG) technique. Ceramic rods, prepared by conventional solid solution reaction method, were used as seed and feed material. The dielectric constants ( K) of the single crystals along the perpendicular and parallel plane to the growth direction have been measured over the temperature range from −180 to 180 °C in the frequency range 1 kHz–1 MHz. Comparative studies of the physical characteristics were also carried out on ceramic samples. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was also performed to verify the structure and prefer orientation of the samples.
