Abstract
La5Ti4O15 (LTO) ceramic was successfully synthesised using the semi-wet route. The dielectric and ferroelectric properties of the LTO ceramic were compared at different temperatures and frequencies. The diffraction pattern of 400 and 800°C indicates an increase in the crystalline nature of the material due to the increase in the sharpness of the peaks, whereas at 1000°C La2Ti2O7 phase was formed. Single-phase formation of LTO ceramic was observed at 1400°C, which was confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis. Scanning electron microscopy shows the presence of homogeneous grains, while energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis confirms the purity of the material. The polarisation–electric field hysteresis loop of the LTO ceramic shows temperature-dependent remnant polarisation and a coercive field. The variation of electrical and dielectrical properties with temperature and frequency was thoroughly studied. The dielectric loss and dielectric constant of LTO ceramic at fixed frequency are highly dependent on temperature. LTO has high a dielectric constant (ε′ = 690) at 100 Hz and 373 K.
