Abstract

Dielectric and enthalpic relaxation of polyesters, polycarbonates and polystyrene have been investigated in the region of T g . Blends of these polymers have also been studied. The temperature dependence of both the dielectric and enthalpic relaxation times are described by the Williams-Landel-Ferry equation. The distribution of relaxation times can be fitted with the fractional exponential distribution but the exponent is greater for enthalpic relaxation than for dielectric relaxation. Similar results are found for polymer blends except that blending broadens the distribution of dielectric and enthalpic relaxation times.
