Abstract

The complex relative dielectric function ε*(ω) = ε′-jε″ of binary mixture of 1-Butyl-3-methylimadazolium (BMiCl) with water of varying concentration have been measured using Precision LCR meter in the frequency range 20 Hz to 2 MHz at 293.15 K. The dielectric and electrical properties of BMiCl and water are represented in terms of electrical conductivity σ*(ω) and complex relative dielectric function ε*(ω). To describe the relationship of the electrical conductivity with concentration, the empirical Casteel-Amis (C-A) equation was used. The influence of concentration variation of BMiCl in water to the various electrical parameters was discussed. All of these presentations are used to explore various processes contributed in the electrical/dielectric properties of the mixtures of BMiCl and water.
