Abstract

An automatic laboratory system designed for monitoring and recording biorhythmic events is described. Interest was focused on controlling the experimental environment. For this purpose, the light regime is adjustable for twilight facilities, intensity and spectral composition and diel rhythm. Temperature can be regulated in order to maintain constant conditions or produce cyclic fluctuations. With this laboratory system the diel rhythm of the elver showed that these small eels exhibit the same activity pattern as the yellow eel, namely nocturnal behaviour in locomotor activity.
