Abstract

In antiquity dreams were seen as signs of the gods, in modern times they are considered to be the golden path to the unconscious. Long before dream research had been established, it was literary fiction which used the dreams of its protagonists to explain the psychological substructure of their actions. Since dreams digest the experiences of the day, they allow conclusions to the way of life and to identity conflicts.
