Abstract

AbstractFor picric acid and 2,4,6‐trinitroresorcinol the following thermodynamic acidity constants at 25° are determined by spectrophotometric measurements in dilute aqueous perchloric acid or acetate buffer: pK0 =0,373 (±0,010) (picric acid), and pK =0,06 (±0,015), pK =4,227 (±0,010) (2,4,6‐trinitroresorcinol). The data are discussed from the point of view of substituent effects.
