Abstract

This Report describes the way of Nietzsche's thought in argentine culture (1890-1945) and university circles (1945-1983). In a first period Nietzsche appears mainly in culture and literature magazines and is quoted and paraphrased even for advertising means. Through the publication of an edition of the philosophical magazine Minerva (1944) dedicated to him and the book Nietzsche profeta de una edad tragica by Carlos Astrada (1945) Nietzsche's Oeuvre begins to be accepted and discussed as a philosophical work. This involvement with his thought raised a wide range of interpretations starting with an identification with fascism, then concerning the social, religious and existential aspects of his philosophy through to a pretended aristocratism. Therewith Nietzsche's desire to be interpreted in different ways is realized in Argentina's adoption of his philosophy.
